Allowances
Regardless
of where you're going, you’ll want to make sure what you’re
bringing isn’t more than what’s allowed. Here are the rules.
Carry-on
Baggage
You can carry on one bag plus one personal item per passenger as long
as it:
-
Weighs less than 50 pounds (22.5 kg).

Fits easily into our unit (approximately 28"x16"x8").
-
Fits in an overhead bin.
Here are some examples of personal items:
• Male or female purse
• Briefcase
• Laptop computer (All laptop computers must be carried aboard and
cannot be checked.
• Camera case
• Diaper bag
• Items of a similar or smaller size to those listed above, such
as
• Portable Electronic Devices.
These additional items are okay to carry on and don't count towards your
allowance:
•
Food items for immediate consumption
• Assistive devices such as crutches, provided passenger is dependent
on them
• One box or bag of duty free merchandise
• A coat or jacket
• An umbrella
• One item of reading material
There may be more limits to carry-on baggage based on available space
and additional restrictions.
Checked
Baggage
You can check two bags per passenger free of charge.
Each bag must:
• Weigh 50 pounds (22.5 kg) or less.
Some
packages, sporting goods, musical instruments, and fragile or bulky items
may require special handling. For more information on special items, see
Special Baggage.
General Conditions of Acceptance
We will accept your baggage for transportation, subject to the following
conditions:
• All baggage is subject to search.
• We reserve the right to refuse baggage whose size; weight, character,
or condition is unsuitable for transportation on the particular bus which
is to transport it or which cannot be accommodated without harming or
annoying passengers or the bus.
• Baggage must be checked in at a Hedman Alas designated city or
departure office.
• Your name must be on your luggage.
• Baggage will not be checked to a destination that is not on a
passenger's itinerary.
Special

Of course, all of your baggage is special. But some types of baggage require

Cabin-Seat Baggage
Buying your baggage its very own seat
You may feel that something you want to bring with you is too fragile
to be handled as checked baggage. In such a case, you have the option
of purchasing a ticket at the best available fare and storing your item
in any passenger seat with a physical bulkhead or divider in front of
the compartment.
The following restrictions apply. The item:
• Must not exceed 165 lbs (75 kgs)
• Must be packaged or covered in a manner to avoid injury to other
passengers or the bus.
• Must be properly secured by a seat belt to avoid shifting during
the trip
• Must not restrict access to, or use of, any required emergency
or regular exits or aisle of the cabin
• Must not obscure any passenger's view of seat belt, no smoking
or exit signs
• Must not contain dangerous goods
• Must be secured in a seat in the same cabin as the owner and next
to the owner

Fragile/Limited Liability Release Items
Fragile items as carry-on or checked baggage
We allow fragile items that meet baggage allowance standards as carry-on
or checked baggage, as long as certain requirements are met. however Hedman
Alas declines all responsability for any damage that might happen during
the trip.
We will accept a fragile or perishable item if it:
• Is packaged in the original factory-sealed container
• Includes internal protective packing material
• Is typically designed for shipping
Items that are not appropriately packaged, and are not assistive devices,
will not be accepted
Assistive devices will be accepted regardless of the packaging. However,
we wil not be held responsible for them.

Dangerous Goods
Certain items are considered hazardous and, by law, are prohibited from
all Hedman Alas Buses. For your safety and the safety of your fellow passengers,
check the rules about any items that may be considered hazardous before
you pack and travel.

There’s a baggage allowance for kids’ stuff too. Before you
set out with your little ones, you’ll want to be sure you know how
much of their stuff you can bring along, the types of infant items that
you can check or take as carry-on, and the rules about child restraint
seats.

Children's Baggage Allowance
Children’s baggage allowances are based in part by the fare paid
for their travel.
If children are travelling for free, they don’t have a baggage allowance.
For a 75% of the adult fare (for travel between countries), children are
allowed one checked bag, plus one checked fully collapsible stroller or
push-chair.
For 100% or more of the adult fare, children are entitled to the standard
baggage allowance.
Strollers & Child Restraint Seats
You may check child restraint seats and fully-collapsible strollers. They
won't count toward your allowance of two checked baggage items.
Strollers need to be checked at the gate by a Hedman Alas agent. Child
restraint seats may be checked, or in certain cases, they may be brought
on board:
Other Carry-On Items
A fare-paying passenger may carry one bag plus one personal item on the
bus. The following infant items may be brought in addition to the one
bag carry-on allowance:
• Diaper bags
All carry-on items must fit easily in (approximate dimensions: 28"x16"x8"
and must weigh less than 50 lbs. (approx. 22.5kgs).
Medical
Supplies & Equipment
Here are some basic guidelines for bringing medical supplies or equipment—including
rescue unit breathing apparatus—.
Medical Supplies & Equipment Baggage Allowance
Passengers who require medical supplies or equipment during their travel
may check an additional item free of charge. They can also carry the item
on with them, on top of the regular carry-on allowance, as long as the
item meets size and weight restrictions.
Breathing Apparatus
Hedman Alas will accept a self-contained breathing apparatus used by emergency
rescue units as checked baggage, as long as the unit's weight does not
exceed 50 lbs. (22.5kgs). A 24-hour advance notice is required.
Perishables
Hedman Alas will not be liable for deterioration or spoilage of any perishable
item contained in checked baggage, whether with or without the knowledge
of Hedman Alas.
Dry Ice shipments are limited by dangerous goods regulations. Customers
are encouraged to use frozen gel packs or similar products to keep perishable
items checked as baggage, frozen.
Wet ice shipments packaged in Styrofoam coolers are not accepted on Hedman
Alas.
Delayed,
Lost, or Damaged Baggage
We will make all the efforts to prevent this situacion, however in those
cases the standard shipping policy will be aplied.
